Preparations for 4th summary conference of YAP Youth Wing are nearing end

Interview with  Chairman of Youth Wing of the New Azerbaijan Party, member of the party`s Political Council Seymur Orujov

Q: Could you please highlight the youth policy of the New Azerbaijan Party?

A: The New Azerbaijan Party is the largest political organization not only in Azerbaijan, but in the whole South Caucasus region. At the same time the Party`s Youth Wing is the largest youth organization in Azerbaijan. In the last few years our Youth Wing has become more active, we are launching new projects and conducting an effective work with youth. We are also expanding our foreign relations.

The success of New Azerbaijan Party`s youth policy conditions the growing political activity of youth in the country. The youth`s involvement in the election process, the fact of their being represented in the parliament and municipalities clearly demonstrate this. We have highly-educate young parliamentarians. The municipal elections also saw the election of a large number of young people to municipalities.

Our party today has more than 650,000 members, of whom 40 percent are youth.

Laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan`s youth policy is today successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. The Azerbaijani youth are actively participating in all spheres of life in the country. Thanks to efforts of President Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijani youth are playing a key role in the country.

Q: The first quarter of 2015 is over. What about the Youth Wing`s work in this quarter?

A: As usually the Youth Wing carried out a number of projects in the first quarter of this year. On February 2 we held a conference on the results of our work in 2014. The conference highlighted projects, events, round tables, campaigns carried out last year.

Among events held by the Youth Wing are commemorative events on January 20, Khojaly, March 31 genocide. We made a nationwide march to A Mother` Cry monument, and also hosted an exhibition of children`s paintings at the office of the Youth Wing.

In March, under a memorandum of understanding that we signed with Level Up education and development center, we conducted free language courses (English, Russia and French) and trainings for youth. We plan to send some of our active youngsters to European countries for language courses In summer.

In addition we organized Logic Olympiad, and the winners were honored with diplomas, medals and other prizes. We continue our charity campaigns, which have already become a tradition. During Novruz holiday we visited more than 150 poor families to give them holiday presents.

Q: What has been done to develop foreign relations?

A: We continue our activity on this front. In March, we hosted a delegation of the Youth Wing of Pakistan`s ruling party who accompanied president Mamnoon Hussain to Azerbaijan.

We are carrying out fruitful activity on the international scene. In February, the Youth Wing of the New Azerbaijan Party organized a presentation on Khojaly in Brussels.

In March, a delegation of the Youth Wing attended “Young Politicians of the South Caucasus” forum in Georgia. The conference was attended by 50 delegates from Georgia, Ukraine and Armenia.

Q: Preparations are well underway for the summary conference of the Youth Wing. Are local youth wings of the party ready for the conference?

A: We will hold the summary conference of the Youth Wing of the New Azerbaijan party shortly. Most of the youth wings of regional branches of the party have already held summary conferences.

The conferences feature presentations on work done by youth wings since previous conference. Looking at the results of these conferences we can confidently say that the Azerbaijani youth are committed to ideas and principles of national leader Heydar Aliyev and support the policy carried out by President Ilham Aliyev.
